DarkMap scans the area around you and gives you a coordinate with a fictional record attached to it. It needs your location to do that. This document explains what we store, and the limits of our responsibility. READ THIS FIRST — LIABILITY DARKMAP IS PROVIDED "AS IS", FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY, AND YOU USE IT ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE ACCEPT NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY INJURY, DEATH, LOSS, DAMAGE, FINE OR LEGAL CONSEQUENCE ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS WHILE YOU TRAVEL TO, OR ARE AT, A COORDINATE THE APP SHOWS YOU. APPLE INC. IS NOT A PARTY TO THIS AGREEMENT, GIVES NO WARRANTY, IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS APP OR ITS CONTENT, AND IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO IT. GOING ANYWHERE IS YOUR DECISION The app never requires you to travel. A reading is complete on your screen. IF YOU CHOOSE TO VISIT A COORDINATE YOU DO SO OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL AND AT YOUR OWN RISK, and you remain solely responsible for your own safety, for anyone with you, and for obeying local law and property rights. Do not trespass, do not enter restricted or unsafe places, and do not use the app while driving. THE RECORDS ARE FICTION Every story attached to a coordinate is invented for the app. It is not history, news or a claim about any real person, place or event, and must not be relied on for any decision. WHAT WE COLLECT - The username you choose. - Device id, device model, operating system and app version. - In-app events (which screen you opened, how many scans you ran, purchases). - Generated anomaly coordinates and the search radius you used. - Error reports when something in the app fails. ABOUT LOCATION Your live position stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. The only thing recorded is the anomaly coordinate produced by a scan, which is generated near you rather than being your exact position. Location access is used only while the app is open; DarkMap does not track you in the background. SAFETY FILTERING IS BEST-EFFORT The app tries to exclude military zones, airports, prisons and similar restricted areas using third-party map data. THIS FILTERING IS BEST-EFFORT AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED TO BE COMPLETE OR CORRECT. A coordinate shown in the app is never a statement that a place is safe, lawful or open to the public. NOTIFICATIONS If you allow them, a notification key for your device is stored so we can send you reminders and announcements. You can turn notifications off from your device settings at any time. PURCHASES Unlimited readings are a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We never see your card details. We store whether your account has the purchase, the amount reported to us by the store, and the country and currency of the transaction. WHO WE SHARE WITH Service providers that run the app: hosting and database (Supabase), maps and routing (Mapbox), purchases (Apple, RevenueCat), notifications (Google Firebase), and story generation (OpenAI, for text only). We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. YOUR RIGHTS You can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time from Settings inside the app. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. For any other request write to hi@darkmap.co. CHILDREN DarkMap is not intended for children. Do not use it if you are under the age required in your country to accept these terms. CHANGES When this policy changes materially, the new version is shown in the app for your acceptance and published at darkmap.co/privacy.
